Because I am an obsessive nerd (is there any other kind?) immediately after watching the Dark City director’s cut (with the Alex Proyas commentary track, I’ll get to the other ones later) I Google “Dr. Schreber Dark City”. Because, as noted, I am a huge nerd and have a probably very unhealthy obsession with that character.

So, imagine my glee when I clicked on the first page of Google Images!

Today I got Dark City: The Director’s Cut. Tomorrow, I will commence watching. My nerdy love of this movie is such that even my dear father, who normally does not comment on such things, told me I’m a nerd.

Oh, well.

I can’t help it I’ve been dreaming about Dr. Schreber for two nights straight.

I can’t rationally explain just how much I love that character. He is my favorite character of any medium, ever. I want to sew a Dr. Schreber plushy. I am considering buying a Jack Bauer action figure and modding it into a Dr. Schreber figure. I wish Dark City was more well-known so I could read fanfic about Dr. Schreber. Provided it was well-designed, I would get a Dr. Schreber tattoo. He’s just that cool.

Should I worry that my totem character is a duplicitous, crippled, devious, slurring, tortured and mentally unbalanced turncoat? Can’t help it. I just want to bring him home and give him a hot cup of tea and a cookie.
