Heheeheee…

Because I am an obsessive nerd (is there any other kind?) immediately after watching the Dark City director’s cut (with the Alex Proyas commentary track, I’ll get to the other ones later) I Google “Dr. Schreber Dark City”. Because, as noted, I am a huge nerd and have a probably very unhealthy obsession with that character.

So, imagine my glee when I clicked on the first page of Google Images!

SKETCH: “Brick”

For the last few days I’ve had the Ben Folds Five song “Brick” stuck in my head, despite the fact I could only remember the chorus. (If you don’t…Sheeeee’s a brick and I’m drowning slo-wly, off the coast and I’m headin’ nowhere…ring any bells?) I haven’t heard this song since about ’97, when I was but a wee overweight bespectacled pimply sprite of 12 and watched the video for this song on VH1 (yes, I was too awkwardly nerdy for MTV) before VH1 went completely lame.

Been a long time waiting…

Things are starting to calm down enough that I can actually do art…no inking yet, but I’ve gotten some pencils finished and once I set up my scanner things will really get rolling.

I’veĀ  had a really great idea that would encompass my love of sewing and crafts with my love of character design…won’t say anything else for right now since I’m just in the planning stages, but I’m going to start gathering the materials tomorrow and begin work. I’m excited!

In totally random news, I am trying to get a job as a Savannah walking tours (ghosts and haunted pub crawl) tour guide. The pay’s great, it looks fun, an any job that requires me to wear a bonnet is a plus in my book.

I was listening to the song “Back to Black” on the subway and thought that it was a very pulp, noir kind of song and sentiment, which immediatley made me think of those great pulpy detective story covers of the 1940s and 1950s. I’m doing another one of these based on a Warren Zevon song and may do more…
