Just a note to say…

Welcome to the world, Mellie! You’re seriously one of the cutest babies I’ve ever seen, you look just like your daddy, and I’m gonna spoil you rotten as long as your mommy and I are friends.

(I doubt many people will understand what I’m talkingg about, but people who attend Dr. Sketchy’s Savannah will!)

Huzzah!

Many good things have happened lo the past few days:

1) Dr. Sketchy’s December session went off…disturbingly well! Despite the fact that Jen and I were about 45 minutes late getting to the venue, we set everything up on time, our model was early and prepared, the DJ had all her equipment, and there were many new faces. Everything was on time! Cameras worked! People had fun! The Hell?!

2) I got my security deposit back! Yay, monies. Me like.

3) Getting into school seems to be going smoothly.

4) COMPUTER FIXED. Hu-feckin’-ZZAH, baby!

New art to come shortly, I hope.

What’s worse than having a broken computer?

Having TWO broken computers!

Gah. The adapters on both of my laptops went kaput in the same week. Supposedly the primary computer should be fixed by tomorrow (I can’t get the backup fixed yet, due to that pesky “I have no money” thing). This is, as imagined, incredibly frustrating. I somehow don’t really like having to work on my mom’s computer, as I am right now.

The plus side is that I’m getting pretty productive on the inking side of things– plus, I’m getting to color on my Dad’s laptop (and if you flip it over, you find the kid’s menu!) and have become a WACOM tablet convert. Those things are awesome! I’ve cut at least 3 hours off my usual coloring time with it. I had one in high school but I really disliked it…it does take a little practice, but it’s very natural now.

I’m working on a piece that’s technically for the February Dr. Sketchy’s poster, but I love the design so much I’m goign to submit it to Threadless T’s when I’m done. I could totally see it on a shirt. It’s a little different than my usual style, but I like it. I’d post a preview but for that pesky “I have no computer” thing.

Speaking of Dr. Sketchy’s, the next session is this Sunday, Dec 7th. I’m really excited for this one– it’s tiki themed (so of course I love it) and it’s showing up in several of the local newspapers’/magazines’ calendar sections, so I’m pretty happy my rudimentary mad networkin’ skillz seem to be working.

For the love of God, October, END already

Normally I love October. Fall is my favorite season hands down, and Hells yes I love Halloween! It just seems like this month has dragged by so slowly that it’s taken far more time than should be necessary to get it wrapped up. Halloween isn’t until Friday, for Cripes sake!

I think I’ve been a little more stressed out than usual– due mostly to my own damn procrastination and general ineptness. I really wish I could just set my ass to a task, finish it, and move on to the next one. It sounds nice and orderly but I never, ever do it. At the moment I’m on a hugely tight deadline, Dr. Sketchy’s has kept me running around all month, there’s been an insane amount of visitors at work, and to top it ff my room’s a damn mess.

Dr. Sketchy’s this month was simultaneously the best and worst. Everyone had a lot of fun, I loved it, Morgana came through last minute to model– but due to the Savannah Film Festival and my own ineptness (I didn’t put the f*cking event time on the poster! What an idiot!) we had a colossaly low attendance. Although, to be fair, we did get at least two new people in, so that’s showing we’re doing something right.

I don’t know. I’m not much of a businesswoman and no matter what I try to do to help out, I feel like I’m making things 10 times more stressful for everyone else.

Dr. Sketchy’s Savannah!

So I went to the first Dr. Sketchy’s Savannah branch meetup last Sunday, held n the supposedly haunted basement of the Moon River Brewery– fun fun fun!

People my own age! A cool model! Booze! Art! And…I actually won a contest! WOO! I haven’t won a contest since I was in kindergarten. “Best Incorporation of a Stuffed Animal”…
